W-7 Form PDF: Download the 2026 IRS Form
Where Is the Official W-7 Form PDF Hosted in 2026?
The IRS hosts every revision of Form W-7 on irs.gov. The authoritative download URL is irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw7.pdf. The companion instructions are at irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/iw7.pdf. Both documents are public domain. Use only these IRS-hosted versions; third-party mirrors may host outdated revisions that the IRS rejects on receipt.
For a line-by-line walkthrough of every field on the form, see the W-7 form instructions and the broader Form W-7 guide.
Which W-7 Form Revision Does the IRS Accept in 2026?
The IRS accepts only the most recent revision of Form W-7. The October 2024 revision is current as of the 2026 filing season. The revision date prints in the upper-left corner of page 1 below the form number. Earlier revisions (December 2019, August 2019, and prior) are no longer accepted because the reason-code labels and document-checkbox grid changed.
- Confirm the revision date before printing.
- Discard any printed copy older than 12 months and redownload.
- The companion instructions revision date should match the form revision date.
How Do You Fill Out the W-7 Form PDF Correctly?
The IRS publishes Form W-7 as an interactive fillable PDF. Type the entries directly into the PDF using Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview on macOS, or any standards-compliant viewer. Field positions are fixed; the IRS expects entries inside the printed boxes.
- Download the PDF from irs.gov.
